Rodrigo Bentancur backed to remain at Tottenham Hotspur at least for two more years
Rodrigo Bentancur became the latest Tottenham Hotspur player to sign a new contract.
The midfielder has become an important member of the squad at White Hart Lane in recent years, despite his injury-ravaged seasons. He has gone from strength-to-strength this term under new boss Thomas Frank, making 10 appearances thus far.
The Uruguay midfielder has started the last four games in all competitions, including the 2-1 win at Leeds United in the Premier League last weekend. Rodrigo Bentancur continues to impress Thomas Frank but his future at the club was uncertain due to his contract winding down. Atletico Madrid had shown an interest in the summer and were also planning to sign the central midfielder on a potential free transfer in the summer of 2026.

Ex-Spurs scout reveals details of Rodrigo Bentancur’s new contract
However, the new deal has secured Bentancur’s future at Tottenham, much to the delight of Frank. The Lilywhites announced that the Uruguay star had penned fresh terms last week, in what was a big development for everyone associated with the club.
Now, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King has provided some key details about the structure of Bentancur’s new deal. He feels that the player has signed a four-year deal that will see him earn a weekly wage of around £120,000, a significant improvement from the previous deal which was about to expire at the end of the season.
“He’ll be starting at around £120,000 a week, which could then be going up every year,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.
“I would say it will be a four-year deal. Whether he fulfils the four years, we’ll have to wait and see. In two years’ time, he’ll still be a very saleable player, and there’ll be clubs in Europe who will be interested in him.
“He’s always shown when he’s on the pitch that he is quality, and I feel this contract is fully deserved. It’s a wise move by Tottenham because to replace him would cost them a lot of money.”

The best is yet to come from Bentancur?
Tottenham took an important step in securing the long-term future of one their established stars earlier this month. Bentancur’s constant presence highlights just how quickly he has adapted to Frank’s system, offering quality, energy, experience and leadership skills on the pitch.
Frank is delighted with the Uruguayan international penning a new deal, which shows the player’s belief in what the Dane is building in N17. If Bryan King is right with the details of the new deal, the Hotspur Way chiefs have done a great job. Atletico Madrid were waiting in the wings to pounce next year and could have easily given him a lot more than £120,000 a week.
So, credit to our negotiations team to get the new deal sorted out as fans would believe the best from Bentancur is yet to come in a Tottenham shirt.
