Bundesliga duo Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are showing great interest in Tottenham star Luka Vuskovic
Luka Vuskovic officially arrived at Tottenham Hotspur in July after his 18th birthday, two years after his transfer from Hajduk Split was rubber-stamped.
Despite impressing in pre-season, Thomas Frank, his coaching staff and the club officials felt a loan move in a top European league would benefit massively Luka Vuskovic. Thus, he joined HSV Hamburger in the Bundesliga on a season-long loan in August. The youngster is rapidly making a name for himself in north Germany, quickly becoming a key cog in HSV Hamburger’s three-man backline.
The Croatian talent was recently adjudged the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for his strong displays in a Hamburg shirt. The teenager was recently called up to the Croatian Under-21 squad for the European qualifier against Ukraine. He helped Croatia Under-21 beat Ukraine 1-0, playing full 90 minutes.

Bundesliga duo keen on signing Luka Vuskovic permanently from Tottenham
It is already clear that Vuskovic has a bright future ahead of him in the game. The Tottenham loanee’s performances for Hamburg has unsurprisingly gone unnoticed. As such, the Lilywhites could face a battle to keep him.
According to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are both showing concrete interest in signing Vuskovic on a permanent deal from Spurs. Tottenham are firmly reluctant to selling the Croatian defender, although it could be interesting to listen to the player’s view.
As Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are an undisputed first-choice centre-back pairing at White Hart Lane, Vuskovic knew he would have to act as a squad option in his first season in England if he stayed. This perhaps prompted him to push for a loan move to Hamburg, where the lanky defender has managed to get regular minutes and showcase his potential to date.
Not to forget, Romero committed to a new contract in August, while CEO Vinai Venkatesham has made it one of his top priorities to secure Van de Ven’s future with fresh terms. So, it’d be hard for any player to break the Romero-Van de Ven duo at Spurs, let alone Vuskovic.
“Vuskovic is playing very well in the Bundesliga, and it is no shock that his performances are turning heads,” Graeme Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.
“RB Leipzig and Dortmund are both in the market for a new defender in 2026, and Vuskovic is very much on their radar.
“Spurs love the player and have no intention to sell, but let’s see what the player thinks. Is there a pathway for him at Tottenham with Romero and Van de Ven in place? Currently, it’s hard to see one.”

Vuskovic is Tottenham’s future
Vuskovic is highly regarded in the Tottenham offices, viewing him as a long-term project. He is still only 18 and developing, but the Split-born talent may have fears that he’d never be able to break into the Tottenham side in Romero and Van de Ven’s presence. However, that would not be the case.
A matured head on young shoulders, Vuskovic looks ready to play a part at Tottenham. He is already firmly on the radar of Frank, who may have a plan for the player’s development. The former Hajduk Split man is clearly a player with huge potential, but the Lilywhites must have a clear plan for his pathway into the first team.
If not, we will be at a big risk of losing Vuskovic with clubs such as RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund already circling, despite him having a long-term contract (Transfermarkt) in N17.
