Tottenham may not sign a centre-back if Luka Vuskovic impresses in pre season

Thomas Frank is set to evaluate Luka Vuskovic during the upcoming pre-season before deciding on his immediate future

Tottenham Hotspur will be starting to accelerate his plans for next season with pre-season now just around the corner.

New boss Thomas Frank faces a massive task at White Hart Lane, trying to get the club back on track in the Premier League whilst also attempting to make them competitive in the Champions League. He will be hoping that the Hotspur Way chiefs will soon start to bring in new players to the club after an extremely slow start to the transfer window.

Thomas Frank is set for several key decisions when the players return for pre-season. He will need to make big calls on the futures of several players, including the ones who have returned from loan spells. And one of those is Luka Vuskovic.

Luka Vuskovic has finally arrived at Tottenham after spending the last two seasons out on loan

Tottenham have finally welcomed Luka Vuskovic at the club this summer after he was initially signed from Hajduk Split in 2023. But as he was only 16 when putting the ink on the dotted lines, the central defender was not allowed to enter England until he turns 18 years old due to Brexit rules. As a result, the North London club decided to send him out on loan for the last two years.

Vuskovic enjoyed a highly successful loan spell with KVC Westerlo in Belgium during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring seven goals in 36 appearances. The teenager was also handed his first senior cap for the Croatian national team earlier this year, whilst his performances have caught the attention of several clubs.

Now, according to a report from The Sun, the defender could be set to spend a third consecutive season on loan. If he is to be loaned out, the Bundesliga is a likely destination with Hamburg being one club who would be interested in a move for the Spurs youngster.

Thomas Frank will evaluate Vuskovic in the upcoming pre-season and consider keeping him in the squad if he impresses. However, with the Lilywhites well-stocked in the centre-back department, particularly with Japanese prospect Kota Takai set to arrive from Kawasaki Frontale, it would not be a surprise to see the big Croat leave on loan to boost his game time and development.

More Tottenham Hotspur News:

After finishing his productive loan spell in Belgium, the Split-born prodigy admitted he is excited to meet his new teammates at Tottenham and take the next steps in his career. Recently, his older brother Mario made an interesting revelation about the defender’s “love” to play for Hamburg if they sent a loan offer.

After seven years in the second division, Hamburg have returned to the Bundesliga and are certain to show ambition in the transfer market. A young, strong and dominant central defender in the ilk of Vuskovic may appeal to them, but Frank and Tottenham are expected to survey his ability during the pre-season tour before deciding his immediate future especially with Cristian Romero not certain to stay at the club.
