Tottenham might look at Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze again if the Morgan Gibbs-White deal fails to go through
Tottenham are looking to speed up their approach in the summer as we reach the business-end of the transfer window. The Lilywhites endured a slow start to the window after missing out numerous targets. But it is fair to say the North London club has more than made up for it by announcing the arrival of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham on a £55m deal.
Not only that, but Spurs triggered the £60m release clause in Morgan Gibbs-White’s contract as well just 24 hours after announcing the arrival of Kudus. However, the joyous mood around N17 was short-lived as Nottingham Forest decided to hit the Lilywhites with a legal complaint of their own. It was reported earlier that Forest have accused Tottenham of breaching the confidential contractual agreement by activating the release clause.

Now, it remains to be seen what the ramifications will be for Daniel Levy and the Lilywhites. However, there is a strong belief amongst the club that the transfer will go through and this is just a tactic used by Nottingham Forest to delay the proceedings and keep hold of the Gibbs-White.
Tottenham to switch their focus to Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze instead?
It is an open secret now that Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze. The England international played a vital part in helping the Eagles lift the FA Cup last season, and Spurs were keen to land him at N17 as a result of that. However, earlier reports suggest that the Lilywhites cooled their interest in the 27-year-old after Arsenal leapfrogged the Lilywhites for his signature.
Now, Ian Darke believes that Spurs might look to test the waters for Eze again if the club misses out on Morgan Gibbs-White. Speaking to Tottenham News, Darke said,
“There are a lot of mentions with Spurs and Eberechi Eze, whose release clause I am told is somewhere around £60-68million, that would be a marquee signing for whoever got him. I think he is a wonderful player to watch and looks to be moving on a level. It would be a marvellous signing if they could get him.”

The iconic commentator added,
“Forest are upset about how Spurs have gone about it, so it looks like they will play hardball even though the release clause has been met, Eze would be a brilliant substitute deal but they will hope to revive this one because Gibbs-White would be an exciting statement signing.”
Ian Darke believes Tottenham should go all in for Eberechi Eze again as he is a wonderful player and could be a ‘marvellous’ signing for next season. The iconic commentator adds that Nottingham Forest are not happy with how Spurs have conducted their business regarding Morgan Gibbs-White, despite the Lilywhites triggering the release clause for the Englishman. So, Darke believes that Eberechi Eze would be a good ‘substitute’ deal if the North London club fails to land Gibbs-White.

Spurs might not rekindle their interest in Eberechi Eze, despite being heavily linked with the 27-year-old in recent weeks. The England international has his heart set on a move to Arsenal, and the Lilywhites might feel that approaching Crystal Palace for the attacker might be a waste of time. Also, Eze’s release clause of £68m might just mean that Daniel Levy chooses to go all in for Morgan Gibbs-White instead.
