Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi has decided to snub Tottenham Hotspur for Liverpool

All eyes are on Tottenham as they look to kickstart a new era at N17 under Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites cannot afford to endure a similar domestic season as the last one under Ange Postecoglou under any circumstances. The North London club is playing in the Champions League, so every result and every performance will be under the watchful eyes of the media and the fanbase.

Thomas Frank wants Spurs to compete hard on all four fronts in the upcoming season. And for that, the Lilywhites must have good squad depth and quality in their ranks. Daniel Levy is already aiming to bring in new players before the new Premier League campaign commences, and fans will hope that the club chairman manages to land a few statement signings.

Tottenham are all set to miss out on Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.

The Lilywhites are looking to add more depth at the back after looking at what happened last season. The injury crisis in the defensive line forced Big Ange to play inexperienced players at the back for crucial games midway through the season. This cannot happen again, and Spurs are hoping to add more defenders to their ranks to give Thomas Frank a good chance of going all the way in four competitions.

Tottenham suffer setback in their efforts to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi

Tottenham are hoping to add another centre-back to their ranks before the transfer window shuts. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have suffered their own injury struggles throughout last season. So, Thomas Frank cannot rely on them going forward to play a game every three days, despite them being his first-choice centre-backs.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were keeping tabs on Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi. The England international led the Eagles to their second trophy in three months earlier this week, and it is believed that he is keen to move to pastures new in the coming days. The report also stated that Palace chairman Steve Parish admitted that there was a possibility Guehi would leave before the transfer window shuts in two weeks’ time.

However, Tottenham have suffered a setback in their efforts to land the Palace defender. As per Fabrizio Romano (via X), Liverpool have agreed personal terms with Marc Guehi, and the centre-back is keen to move to Anfield for the upcoming season. Romano also shares that negotiations between the Eagles and the Reds are underway, and Liverpool have placed in a £35m bid for the England international’s signature.

Now, Daniel Levy should look at other alternatives if Spurs want to go for a new defender before the transfer window shuts. In all honesty, the Lilywhites have enough depth at the back as of now. So, bringing in a new centre-back should not be a priority as there are other areas of the pitch that need urgent attention.
