Richarlison is determined to prove his worth at Tottenham this season as he kickstarts the new campaign on a positive note
Tottenham striker Richarlison made an amazing start to the new campaign after bagging two sublime goals against Burnley. The Brazil international was head and shoulders clear of any other player on the pitch, and certainly did his best to make an impact in the first Premier League game of the season.
The 28-year-old ran down the channels, constantly pressed the opposition defenders, and made sure that he was in the right places during build-up play. Not only that, but the ex-Everton star also made sure that he continued the good form he showed against PSG last week, as well as, make an impact in the game to ensure his stay in the starting eleven.

The Spurs No.9 managed to score a volley to give the Lilywhites a 1-0 lead against Burnley. But it was Richarlison’s second goal that caught the eye of the fans, and it is fair to say that we already have a ‘Goal of the Season’ contender. The Brazil international managed to score a bicycle kick from inside the box, leaving the fans and everyone else watching the game in disbelief once the ball struck the net.
Tottenham star Richarlison must build momentum after brilliant performance
Tottenham star Richarlison looks set to revive his career at N17 after making an instant impact for the Lilywhites in their first Premier League game of the season. The Brazilian’s two sublime goals left Thomas Frank in awe of him, forcing the Spurs manager to praise the prolific forward. The Danish tactician suggested that the 28-year-old ‘deserves all the praise’ for the way he performed against Burnley.
Now, Gary Lineker has reiterated the same message, whilst also hoping that the ex-Everton star maintains his fitness levels. Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, Lineker said,
“I’ll tell you who intrigues me, Richarlison. I look at him sometimes and you think, he’s got so much talent and then on another occasion, nothing seems to happen and he gets a bit down on himself, possibly. I don’t know. I’m just making assumptions.”
The football icon added,
“Injuries have played a big part and I think sometimes fans as well, it’s easy to go, oh, he’s always injured. But as a footballer, the last thing in the world you want is to be injured. There’s nothing more frustrating. But if he can stay fit and sharp, then they’ve got a real player.”
Gary Lineker suggests that he gets intrigues by Richarlison as he may look world-class in one game, but then follow it up with a below-average performance in the next game. The football icon adds that the Brazil international’s injury concerns have played a huge part in his failings at N17 and added to the frustration. However, Lineker suggests that Spurs have got a top player in him if he can maintain his fitness levels and not get injured.
