Man City star Savinho is keen to make the switch to Tottenham as we approach the business-end of the transfer window
Tottenham are looking to get done with their transfer business in time before the summer window shuts in a few days. The Lilywhites still need to find a replacement for Heung-Min Son, after the South Korean departed N17 abruptly earlier this month. Signing a player that could fill the void left behind by the 32-year-old will be a huge task as the North London club prepare to build on the Europa League success.
There is no secret that Thomas Frank relies on his wingers a lot. The Danish tactician utilised his wide players to their full potential during his time at Brentford. He prefers the wingers to cut inside and make underlapping runs to get in behind the defence into goal-scoring positions. Not only that, but the current Spurs manager also prefers that his wide players have elite ball-carrying ability, and they possess the finishing skills of a striker under their belt.

As of now, the North London club only have Mathys Tel as the viable option on the left-side. The Frenchman is still young and he is learning his trade at N17. It is not fair from Thomas Frank to rely heavily on the 20-year-old, considering it is his full-season in the Premier League. Therefore, Daniel Levy should do everything he can to sign a player that Tel can learn from instead.
Man City have no intentions of selling Savinho to Tottenham
There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking within the Premier League to sign a new left-winger. It was reported earlier that the Lilywhites are keen to land Manchester City star Savinho, and have identified the Brazilian as the long-term replacement of Son. The report also stated that Spurs have offered the 21-year-old regular game time, and winger is keen to move to N17 in the coming days.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided a huge update on the transfer saga that might be termed as a setback for Spurs. Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Romano said,
“As of today, there is someone specific, very important, at Manchester City blocking the deal for Savinho to Tottenham. The player is keen on a move to Tottenham, but the player is not breaking his relationship with Manchester City.”
The journalist added,
“So the player is kind of positioned like, okay, if I can go to Tottenham, I’m happy, because Thomas Frank wants to make him one of the faces of the project, because he could play on a regular basis. So Savinho would like to go to Tottenham.”
Fabrizio Romano reports that a ‘very important’ Manchester City official is blocking Savinho’s move to Tottenham. The journalist adds that the 21-year-old is keen to move to N17, but will not do anything to damage his relationship with the Manchester-based club. Not only that, but Romano also indicates that Thomas Frank wants to make Savinho a key player for his project at N17, and that is tempting the player to make the switch in the coming days.
Fans will hope that Daniel Levy manages to push the deal forward and land the Brazilian in the coming days. Signing Savinho will not only enhance the quality of the attack, but it will also bring stability to the team in the final third of the pitch. The 21-year-old’s versatility is something that will come in handy under Thomas Frank, as the Danish tactician likes his forwards to take different positions during the game.
