Tottenham Hotspur agree to sell Bryan Gil to Girona
The deadline day has seen plenty of twists and turns already for Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs remain active in the market as they look to grab the opportunity of bolstering their squad for this season They are looking to add more depth in the offensive unit, as Thomas Frank prepares to compete hard on all four fronts.
The Lilywhites have made an enquiry to Paris Saint-Germain over the possibility of signing Randal Kolo Muani after his deal to join Juventus has collapsed. It remains to be seen whether the club can pull off a late deal for Kolo Muani, but the focus is expected to be on departures in the final hours of the transfer window.
Tottenham agree deal with Girona for out-of-favour winger
Despite trying their best to offload him all summer, Bryan Gil is still on the Tottenham payroll. The winger’s loan at Girona was going well before he sustained a knee injury in the second half of the season, forcing him to undergo surgery in March. This led to a premature end to his Girona adventure, which led to his loan move being cut short.
The Spaniard is yet to feature for Tottenham this season as he is not a part of Thomas Frank’s plans. It seems the Lilywhites’ plans to offload him have finally come to fruition. According to The Times reporter Tom Allnutt on X, Tottenham have now agreed a deal with Girona for Bryan Gil worth €10m, with the move this time being a permanent transfer rather than another loan.

Gil registered three goals and as many assists in 25 La Liga appearances for Girona last season, which caught the attention of several clubs. He had an offer from Elche but the Spurs outcast was fixated on re-joining Girona. A permanent move to the Catalan side would end his wretched four-year spell at White Hart Lane.
Gil has proven to be one in the long list of signings that has not worked out for Spurs. Having entered the final year of his contract and with no future in north London, the five-cap Spanish international’s departure was inevitable. For a player that has not seen been on the sidelines since March and not seen any action since recovering from his knee problem, Daniel Levy and Co. squeezing out €10m from Girona actually represents a good deal for us.
It remains to be seen whether the money from Gil’s sale can be reinvested into bolstering Frank’s defensive unit before the deadline day.
