Tottenham Hotspur can recall Luka Vuskovic in case of an injury crisis
Tottenham found themselves in the massive turmoil last season after the club endured an injury crisis at the back. The Lilywhites were forced to be without almost all the key players during the crucial parts of the season, forcing Ange Postecoglou to play inexperienced players out of position in the backline. Highly-rated defender Luka Vuskovic is one to keep an eye on as Tottenham plan his long-term development at N17. The Croatia international was keen to fight for his place in the Spurs team this season. But after giving a lot of consideration, the 18-year-old decided to move to HSV Hamburg on a straight loan for the season so that he could continue his development and get regular game time.
It was reported earlier that Thomas Frank did try his luck to keep Vuskovic at N17 for this season. The Danish tactician promised the talented defender that he would feature regularly in cup competitions, or if any key player suffered an injury. However, the 18-year-old did not want to sit on the bench for most parts of the season, and promised Spurs fans that he would come back as a better player next summer.
However, there is a new update that has emerged regarding the condition of Vuskovic’s loan. As per BILD, Spurs have inserted a ‘special clause’ in the centre-back’s loan deal, which allows the Lilywhites to recall the Croatian midway through the season in case there is an injury crisis at the club, or Thomas Frank is missing a player through a long-term illness.
It is fair to say that Spurs are trying their best to avoid last season’s mistakes, and this is a valid condition, considering the dire situation the club found itself in last year. Fans will hope that it does not reach to the point where Thomas Frank is forced to recall Vuskovic this time around. The Croatia international will also hope that he gets to play in the Bundesliga and gain maximum exposure before returning to N17 next summer.
