Harry Kane’s uncertain future in Germany could prompt Tottenham Hotspur return
Tottenham’s attacking shortcomings were once again on display as they scraped a 2-2 draw against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League. The Lilywhites created very little for most of the match, underlining the urgent need to reinforce their forward line in upcoming transfer windows. It was yet another performance that exposed the lack of quality in the attack and reignited the debate over Richarlison’s role as the first-choice striker.
The Brazil international started the season brightly but his form dipped after the international break, leaving Spurs without a reliable goal threat. Yet, with Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani sidelined through injury, Thomas Frank has had little choice but to start the 28-year-old regularly. The lack of alternatives has only intensified Tottenham’s determination to invest heavily in a new striker next summer.

For many, the ideal solution would be a return for Harry Kane. The England international left for Bayern Munich in 2023, but speculation over his future in Germany continues to grow. At 32, Kane is reportedly keen on finishing his career in England, with the ambition of breaking Alan Sharer’s all-time Premier League goal-scoring record.
Tottenham running as frontrunners for Harry Kane’s signature?
Sensing the uncertainty around Kane’s future, Tottenham have already made their stance clear. Thomas Frank himself refused to rule out a reunion and even admitted he would ‘welcome’ the Englishman back to N17 – comments that have fuelled excitement among Spurs faithful.
Now, John Wenham believes Spurs are the only realistic destination for the 32-year-old should he return to the Premier League. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,
“I think if he comes back to the Premier League, it’ll definitely be to Tottenham. I don’t see him going to another Premier League club. What is really interesting is that it’s just kind of so well spoken about or accepted that this is kind of happening. Frank is normally a very sensible, serious manager who does everything by the book, and you would expect him to say not to comment about another team’s player.”
The Lilywhite Rose owner added,
“But it was really unusual for him. ‘If he wants to come there, then he’s absolutely welcome here’, or something along those lines. It was kind of really out of character, and it’s just kind of an acceptance, it seems, from all sides that he will be coming back to Tottenham, and I mean, my goodness, would I have him back.”
John Wenham insists Spurs are in pole position to re-sign their greatest-ever striker next summer, highlighting that Frank’s uncharacteristic openness shows just how possible the move has become. He also believes Kane’s legendary status and ongoing pursuit of Shearer’s record make a return almost inevitable.
