TTLB Opinion: Can out of favour Chelsea star prove to be Tottenham Hotspur's plan B to Dominic Solanke?

Ange Postecoglou had been pushing to bring in a new forward along the winter transfer window, and while Daniel Levy delivered by bringing in French sensation Mathys Tel on deadline day, the North Londoners are just getting started. With the January window behind us, the club has already started planning for the upcoming summer window, and Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in bringing another of the now Bayern Munich forwards, Leroy Sane, on a probable free transfer.

The 29-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the ongoing season, given he is yet to agree on any probable extension with the German giants, and this has left space for speculations about his future, given that he has a history of being linked to a possible return to the Premier League.

And now, according to a recent report by Fichajes, the Lilywhites have already initiated discussions with the German ace, showing their intent to bring him to White Hart Lane, although Daniel Levy will have a lot of convincing to do given how the North Londoners are far from Champions League places in the English top tier table at the moment. And Sane, who has proven his credentials in the Premier League with Manchester City, will be looking for prospects to go to a team where he can compete and eventually win silverware.

For Tottenham, if they manage to bring in Sane, the Australian head coach (if he would still be at N17) would be adding much-needed unpredictability and clinicality in the front line complemented by winning mentality and experience in high-pressure situations.

Moreover, bringing in a player of Sane’s potential on a free transfer not only makes financial sense but will also prove to be a credit to the project at Hotspur Way.
